We make a living by what we get.
We make a life by what we give.

The Osteopathic Foundation of West Michigan is a non-profit public charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Gifts to the Osteopathic Foundation of West Michigan are deductible up to the full extent of the law.
Making a Difference in West Michigan
The Osteopathic Foundation is managed by a dedicated and talented board of directors, comprised of Osteopathic physicians and community leaders who volunteer their time to serve on the board as well as the various committees of the board.
As a donor, concerns are often, “Where does my money go?” The Foundation’s mission is to create a healthier community and support Osteopathic Medicine in West Michigan. We do this by annually issuing scholarships and grants:
High School Scholarships
- Full support to attend MSU’s OsteoCHAMPS PreCollege Summer Enrichment Program
- College tuition assistance (upon full participation in the OsteoCHAMPS Program)
|
Medical School Scholarships
- Support for students who reside in the geographical area who are attending medical schools accredited by the American Osteopathic Association
|
Community Grants
- Funding for programs and projects to improve the health and well being of the community
|
Physician Recruitment Scholarships
- Support to residents graduating from Mercy Health Partners residency programs who commit to practicing Osteopathic medicine within the counties of Muskegon, Oceana, or northern Ottawa

Donating to the Osteopathic Foundation
Your contribution to the Osteopathic Foundation represents an investment in the future. Gifts of all sizes are valued and appreciated! You may specify a purpose for your gift or if you prefer, leave it unrestricted for use where the need is the greatest.
Outright Gifts
Most people make outright gifts on an annual basis and enjoy being philanthropic throughout their lives. Such outright donations are generally in the form of cash or stock. This provides for immediate impact, and donors receive an income tax deduction in the year the contribution was made.
Endowments
Endowment gifts are a great way for donors to ensure perpetual support. Annual investment income generated by an endowment fund covers program expenses while the principal remains intact to ensure future funding. Funds established become an enduring symbol of the donor’s generosity.
Planned Giving
Opportunities to make significant charitable gifts occur most often when people make major business, personal, and financial decisions. Planned giving can significantly impact and benefit the community (as well as the donors). Planning for retirement? Receiving a financial windfall? Writing or revising a will? Contemplating the sale of a major asset or a business? Consider a gift to the Osteopathic Foundation of West Michigan.
Wills & Living Trusts
Charitable bequests are one of the easiest ways to include funds for the future of the Osteopathic Foundation of West Michigan. These bequests can be structured in a variety of ways:
- A specific sum of money
- A percentage of an estate
- A percentage of a certain piece of property
There is also an option for donors to designate the Osteopathic Foundation as a “contingent beneficiary”. Such designation is in the event other named beneficiaries do not outlive the donor. In addition, donors may name the Osteopathic Foundation as a “residuary beneficiary” for all or a portion of an estate. If you choose to include the Osteopathic Foundation in a Will or Living Trust, please use our full/legal name: “Osteopathic Foundation of West Michigan”.
