Scholarship Qualifications
Medical Education Scholarships will be considered for medical students who reside in the geographical area of the Western Michigan Osteopathic Association (Muskegon County, Oceana County, and northern Ottawa County) who have been accepted to medical schools accredited by the American Osteopathic Association. Although not required, each recipient will be urged to practice Osteopathic medicine in the geographical boundaries of the Western Michigan Osteopathic Association.
Scholarship funds are to be used for related tuition and fees and for instruction-related fees, books, supplies, and equipment.
- Scholarship recipients will be required to submit a report verifying satisfactory academic progress for each year that scholarship money is granted.
- As a condition of payment of scholarship money, the medical student must agree to participate in the OsteoCHAMPS Program as a mentor for a high school OsteoCHAMPS student sponsored by the Foundation.
Decision Making Policy
The Osteopathic Foundation Grant & Scholarship Committee reviews scholarship applications on an annual basis and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors, who is the decision-making body for granting scholarships. At its option, the Grant & Scholarship Committee may request personal interviews.
Time Frame for Issuing Scholarships
All scholarships are granted on an annual basis. Interested applicants must submit their completed applications to the Foundation by May 1.
